Steve Devrieze, MBA

Chief Executive Officer

  • Steve is the CEO Of Heads Together Health and brings more than 20 years of Management Consulting, Technology Deployment and Healthcare Services experience to lead the organization. Most recently he was Vice President of Business Development for the North America Contract Sales and Medical Solutions business at IQVIA, which is the largest global healthcare information, analytics and contract research organization. Steve was at IQVIA for 11 years, serving in strategy, business development and general management roles within the commercialization business. Previous to his work at IQVIA, Steve worked at Accenture for 9 years in a management consulting, software deployment and systems integration role working for numerous Fortune 500 companies.

    Steve is passionate about leveraging data and technology to optimize the care continuum for patients.

    He is a graduate of Hope College (BA, Business Administration) and The Fuqua School of Business at Duke University (MBA, Health Sector Management concentration).

Kevin Carneiro, DO

Chief Scientific Officer &
Co-Founder

  • Kevin Carneiro, D.O., is the Chief Scientific Officer and Co-Founder of Heads Together Health. He is focused on all patients receiving the best care possible. In addition to his work with Heads Together Health, he is an Associate Professor in the Department of Neurosurgery with a secondary appointment in Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation. He is also an Adjunct Professor in the Department of Exercise and Sport Science. He serves as the Executive Director for the UNC NFLPA Trust Program, the Medical Director of the Center for Retired Athletes and the Matthew Gfeller Sports-Related Traumatic Brain Injury Center. He previously served as the Medical Director of the UNC Health Spine Center which he enjoyed tremendously.

Anthony Volpe, PhD

Chief Analytics Officer &
Co-Founder

  • Anthony Volpe is an innovator and entrepreneur who assists clients in bringing to market transformative AI-driven products and capabilities. By partnering at every stage of the innovation cycle, from ideation through proof-of-concept and launch, his boutique software development company drives value with customers ranging from fortune 100 brands to high-potential startups. Prior to launching Quantworks, Anthony was Chief Corporate Analytic Officer at Lenovo from 2013-2015. There he was responsible for building strategy and driving initiatives to advance the world’s largest PC manufacturer as a leading consumer brand. Under his leadership, Lenovo and its customers recognized significant gains from analytics in a wide range of areas, including product development, quality, pricing, marketing, customer engagement and supply chain. Before Lenovo Anthony held positions in Product Management and Analytics Advisory at SAS Institute. He was previously Senior Research Fellow at the Harvard Center for Textile and Apparel Research, and spent time as an analytics practitioner with Ford Motor Company. Anthony received his B.S. in Mathematics from Duke University, and his Ph.D. in Applied Mathematics from Harvard.

Nicole Alexander, MS

  • Nicole is currently the head athletic trainer for the Connecticut Sun of the WNBA. Prior to joining the Sun in March 2021, she spent time in with the Durham Family Medicine clinic.

    Nicole also spent 12 years in Division I athletics. From 2008-2014 she was an assistant athletic trainer at the University of Notre Dame, covering softball and fencing. In 2013 she joined the sports medicine staff at UNC Chapel Hill covering women’s basketball.

    In addition to her collegiate experience, Nicole has worked with USA basketball’s junior national teams in 2015, 2018, & 2019 and the Women’s National team in 2022.

    Nicole is highly engaged with athlete clinical care, including concussion management, and is highly interested in how Heads Together Health can improve patient outcomes while also making the ATC workflow more efficient.

Amrita Bhowmick, MBA, MPH, EdD

  • Amrita Bhowmick is the chief community officer at Health Union, LLC. At Health Union, Ms. Bhowmick has been instrumental in ideating and executing a reproducible community model that combines her passion for public health with her knowledge and expertise in health care marketing.

    Health Union’s community model encourages social interactions between people with shared experiences that evolve into valuable health conversations. These communities help people find information, connection and validation, with the goal of helping improve their quality of life.

    Amrita also currently holds a position as Adjunct Assistant Professor in the Department of Health Behavior at the UNC Gillings School of Global Public Health and has published research in numerous scientific journals.

Luke kuechly

  • Luke August Kuechly is a former American football middle linebacker who played all eight seasons of his professional career with the Carolina Panthers of the NFL. He was drafted by the Panthers ninth overall in the 2012 NFL Draft. Kuechly played college football at Boston College where he was recognized twice as a consensus All-American. Kuechly had an immediate impact his rookie season, as he led the NFL in tackles and won the Associated Press 2012 NFL Defensive Rookie of the Year award, becoming the third youngest recipient in its history. In 2013, Kuechly became the youngest recipient of the AP NFL Defensive Player of the Year Award in its history.  Luke was selected to the Pro Bowl 7 times during his NFL Career.  Luke retired from NFL Football in 2019 and is now active as a radio announcer for Panthers games and serving as an advisor to a few companies.  He is passionate about concussion management and excited about the value of Heads Together Health for all stakeholders.

Rob Morris, MBA

  • Rob is a veteran technologist, strategic thinker and collaborative leader who designs, builds and implements the right technologies at the right time to meet the demands of today and tomorrow in the healthcare space. He leverages 24 years of military leadership and 13 years of industry IT experience to successfully lead cross functional teams to deliver business objectives. Rob has been recognized for his collaborative leadership style, a proactive approach to balance competing priorities and the ability to translate needs into action driven deliverables. Rob is passionate about Traumatic Brain Injury and in particular how technology and improved tools can transform care for patients in need.

Patrick Getzen

  • Patrick Getzen has over 25 years of experience in the Health Insurance industry. Patrick’s most recent position at Blue Cross North Carolina was SVP, Chief Data and Analytics Officer, where his focus included data quality, stewardship and governance, as well as analytics enablement. His technology-focused teams ensured that actions were efficient and information-driven to run businesses, collaborate with health care providers, and serve customers.

    Previously Patrick served as Vice President and Chief Actuary for Blue Cross NC. His responsibilities included pricing for individual customers and employers, valuation, underwriting, product development support, and financial planning support.

    Patrick is also a Fellow of the Society of Actuaries, as well as a Member of the American Academy of Actuaries.

    In addition to his role on the Heads Together Health Advisory Board, Patrick currently serves as an advisor to PASCO advisors, Vision Consulting, and Citius Tech. Prior to that, Patrick served as Board Member for Appalachian State University’s Walker College of Business Advisory Council, Blue Health Intelligence, GNS Healthcare, IBM Watson Health Payer Advisory Board, Duke Forge, and the Congressional Budget Office’s Panel of Health Advisors.

    Patrick is an advocate for improving lives through better health, education, personal development and leadership.

Kevin Leibel, MBA

  • Kevin Leibel is the President of Innovation Management LLC, a global strategy and insights consulting business. His work focuses on new products and service development, channel strategy and the management of innovation. In particular he is interested in the challenges associated with portfolio selection decisions and in the strategic issues which emerge during the innovation process both front and back-end.

    Kevin began his career at Sara Lee Corporation working on the creation of hosiery and fashion textiles. He later joined RJR Nabisco and helped develop the industry’s first generic brand strategy. At Procter and Gamble, Kevin led the development of new products for the Cover Girl cosmetics brand. In this role, Kevin led a team responsible for marketing in Europe and North America.

    Kevin’s corporate clients are located throughout the United States, Europe, Asia, and Latin America. Kevin’s industry experience includes CPG, Telecom, Healthcare, Beverage, Pharmaceuticals, and Biotechnology.

    Kevin’s affiliation with the University of North Carolina Chapel Hill began in 1994 when he earned an MBA at the Kenan Flagler Business School. Kevin is a member of the UNC CIBER Advisory Board and NC Hillel. He is an advisor to UNC STAR Domestic and Global Business Projects. Kevin has worked with MBA teams on consulting assignments in the US, China and Brazil.

Gerald Grant, MD

  • Dr. Gerald Grant, MD, Professor and Chairman of Neurosurgery at Duke University. He was previously Endowed Professor of Neurosurgery and, by courtesy, of Neurology at Stanford University.

    Dr. Grant received his B.S. degree in Neurosciences and German from Duke and his MD from Stanford University. He also served active duty with the US Air Force and was deployed to Iraq in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom. During his deployment, Dr. Grant was the Consultant for Neurosurgery, Operation Iraqi Freedom, 30th Med Brigade, US Army and developed the first prospective study in a combat zone on blast concussive injury. The conclusions from this study in part were published in the New England Journal of Medicine in 2007. Dr. Grant attained the rank of Lieutenant Colonel and was awarded a Meritorious Service Medal prior to his separation. He is a Diplomat of the American Board of Neurological Surgery and is also board certified in Pediatric Neurosurgery by the American Board of Pediatric Neurological Surgery.

    Dr. Grant was recruited from Duke to Stanford in 2013 and then returned to Duke in 2022 to become the Chairman of Neurosurgery. He has a specialized clinical interest in head trauma and concussion and his translational laboratory efforts focus on molecular characterization of the blood-brain barrier. Dr. Grant was previously Director of Neurotrauma at Duke and Principal Investigator for the Duke Site on a Department of Defense Traumatic Brain Injury and Posttraumatic Stress Disorder Consortium grant. He also led the Stanford Children’s concussion clinic and is the neurosurgery consultant for the San Francisco 49ers NFL team. Dr. Grant has held several executive positions in national organizations, which included the National Committee on Trauma in the American College of Surgeons, Congress of Neurological Surgeons, American Association of Neurological Surgeons, American Society of Pediatric Neurosurgeons, and the Joint Section of Pediatric Neurosurgery. He is on the Editorial board for Neurosurgery, Journal of Neurosurgery Pediatrics, and Pediatric Neurosurgery.

Davis Moore, PhD

  • Davis is an Assistant Professor at the USC Department of Exercise Science & Institute for Mind & Brain. He is also the Director of the USC Concussion & Health Neuroscience Laboratory and he is on the USC Athletics Advisory Committee.

    Davis is an interdisciplinary scientist drawing from the fields of neuroscience and psychology, exercise science, and sports medicine. He has conducted significant research on how various health factors such as physical activity/fitness, obesity and nutrition affect neurocognition and psychophysiological function; and he has also conducted extensive research on concussive injuries in athletes and Veterans. Increasingly aware of the need to translate laboratory findings to the field or clinic, he aims to advance the science of concussion and human performance by evaluating individuals before, during, and after the stressors they regularly incur. By creating ecologically valid paradigms and using psychophysiological measures such as EEG and event-related potentials, heart rate variability, eye-tracking and pupillometry, he seeks to understand and predict how individuals perform in daily life, whether they be an athlete, Operator, or average Joe. Davis also conducts interventions using novel technologies and integrative and complimentary methods to optimize neuropsychological health, and maximize resiliency to physical, mental, and environmental stressors.

Laurel Sweeney

  • Laurel is an experienced market access and policy professional with subject matter expertise in health policy, value-based care, reimbursement, health economics, and medical technology. She is passionate about the transformation of healthcare enabled by medical technology, digital medicine and telehealth. Laurel runs Access Strategies to assist medical technology, digital health, AI, and telehealth innovators and investors in:

    1. Shaping value propositions of the technology or solution through the lens of financial stakeholder(s);

    2. Identifying payment pathways for technologies and solutions, including whether the product and/or solution is likely to be reimbursed under existing systems or whether new ones will need to be created.

    3. Assessing and providing input into evidence development plans that are needed for payment and adoption;

    4. Identifying and interpreting policy issues that will impact market access and payment.

    5. Assessing reimbursement inputs and assumptions for investors and M&A teams that will impact valuation and go-to-market timelines and budgets.

    She is a member of the AMA’s Digital Medicine Payment Advisory Group (DMPAG) and is a hospital Trustee. She also serves as an advisor for the MedTech Innovator Accelerator and Venture competition and to entrepreneurs working with the Massachusetts Next Generation Initiative (MassNextGen). Before launching Access Strategies in 2018, she was the global lead for market access for Philips Healthcare.

Julia Scoles, MS

  • Julia plays on the Association of Volleyball Professionals (AVP) beach tour. Her volleyball achievements include: AVP Gold Series Champion and two-time NCAA National Champion and All-American in beach volleyball at the University of Southern California (USC). Julia holds a BA in Communications from the University of Hawaii at Manoa and an MS in Entrepreneurship and Innovation at USC from the Marshall School of Business. She is also currently finishing an MS in Communication Management at USC in Annenberg School for Communication and Journalism. She is also a Concussion Legacy Foundation Volunteer Mentor. Julia is a passionate advocate for supporting concussion awareness, education, and treatment options.
